Alumni-ets Upset Home Team for an 'Old School' Win! |

Friends and Alumni gathered once again in the Millar gym on March 5-6 th to take part in the annual Alumni and Friends Basketball tournament. The men's and the women's pools held four and three teams respectively. The Millar women were joined by an Alumni-ets team, and the Red Deer Royals (a team led by alumnus, Patricia Wolfs).
On the men's side, the Millar men were joined by the Great Plains Sundogs, Young and Spry (Alumni), and the Geezers (Alumni).
The Millar Women's team performed wonderfully in the round robin, coming out on top with wins against Alumni-ets (62-36), and RD Royals (52-46).
The Millar Men had a unique circumstance surrounding their side of the tournament. Because Canadian University College from the ACAL league was out to play league games on both Friday and Saturday, the Millar men were not involved in the Alumni round robin, and were set in the final to play against the first place team from the round robin.
Great Plains College worked hard and came out first with scores against Young and Spry (84-72), and the Geezers (77-66). The Great Plains team then eliminated the Geezers in the semi-final, and then went on to play the Millar men in the final. Millar Men played a tight game of defense and aggressive offense and came out on top to win the Alumni tournament.
The women's playoffs were very close with the Alumni-ets creating an upset when they eliminated the Red Deer Royals in the semi final and then moved on to the final against the first place Millar ladies. What an incredible final! The Alumni-ets stepped up to the plate and played neck and neck with the Millar ladies right up until the last minutes when the Alumni pulled ahead by a very few points and took the t-shirts home, while handing the Millar women a disappointing loss.
Great work to everyone who came out to play! It was a fantastic weekend with plenty of fellowship and great basketball to watch.

Alumni Hockey Action Draws A Good Number
The Millar Alumni 4on4 Hockey Tournament was a blast again this year. With a good showing of Alumni players, as well as visiting teams, there was some great hockey played and a good time of fellowship and meeting together with friends. Nipawin Royals met up with the Rhineland team in the final to play to a 9-2 finish in favor of the Rhineland team who won the tournament t-shirts! Thanks to everyone who came out! The weekend was a great success.

Early Alumni Adrenalin!
There were high spirits on campus once again as the three Alumni teams took to the soccer field against the Millar teams. With the tournament being much earlier this year both the Alumni and the Millar teams had the challenge of learning to play with one another for the first time during the weekend. However, the teams were able to work well together and many of the games ended in a tie or a one goal difference. On the men’s side, after either winning or tying all of their games, the Alumni 1 team was able to land a spot in the final game against Millar 1. The game remained close with the final two minutes being a myriad of close shots on Alumni goalie, Jason Robey, but nothing could find the net. The Alumni 1 team came out with a well earned 2-1 victory.
On the women’s side the games stayed all within one goal until the final where the Millar 1 team took advantage in a 10-0 win over the LCBI/Alumni team.
